COORDINATOR OF CURRICULUM & PROFESSIONAL LEARNING/ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - LETTER TO COMMUNITY
-
Happy Spring from the Office of Curriculum and Professional Development!! Hopefully this update finds you enjoying our Western New York spring weather, with the promise of warmer and sunnier weather to come.
The Professional Development Day held on March 7th for our teachers and staff was a success. The primary focus was moving the work in our District strategic plan forward. Our faculty met with their instructional team leaders to review student data and develop plans to adjust their instruction based on the data. Elementary teachers also had an extensive review of literacy practices that align with the science of reading research and information from the NYS Education Department. Our secondary teachers engaged in a workshop with a representative from the Niagara County YWCA regarding student trauma and effective first responses to trauma.
End of year assessments for students are also in full swing. By the time you read this article, the NYS 3-8 assessments in the areas of ELA, Math, and Science will have been administered. Regents exams will take place throughout the month of June.
The Office of Curriculum and Professional Development will also be engaged in work throughout the spring in revising and updating our professional development and technology plans for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
